This map features the Big Thompson River below Olympus Dam. The Big Thompson River has its start in the high mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park in Forrest Canyon, flows down through the town of Estes Park where it makes a brief stop at Lake Estes, before continuing its journey though the canyon along Highway 34 to Loveland.
The Big Thompson River below Olympus Dam is a famous trout river which historically attracted thousands of anglers each year. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout can be good to great almost year round. Fishing within the catch and release section (Watonia bridge to Olympus Dame) will produce good numbers.
